UPPAbaby G-Lite Umbrella Strollers
UPPAbaby advertises its G-Lite stroller as a lightweight full-sized stroller, but it is what most would consider an umbrella stroller. It may have a feature or two that would typically come on a full sized stroller, but it is an ultra-lightweight, compact stroller designed much like any other umbrella stroller on the market.
This is not a stroller that you should use with a newborn. It is recommended by the manufacturer for babies at least six months old and up to 50 pounds.
G-Lite Design Features
Weighing less than 9 pounds, this is one of the lightest strollers on the market today. It is designed for families that need to pick-up-and-go without a bulky stroller slowing them down. Take a peek at the features:
* Longer handles
* Oversized wheels
* All-wheel suspension
* One-side brake system
* 5 point harness
* Moving cup holder
* Storage basket
* Swivel (locking) wheels
* Washable seat pad
* Standing fold
Those features are definitely in line with a very basic umbrella stroller. You do have the addition of the cup holder, which can be moved from one side of the stroller to the other. The convenience of taking out the seat pad for washing is another benefit that doesn't come with all umbrella strollers. The fact that the stroller folds up while standing also makes the UPPAbaby G-Lite a bit different from other umbrella strollers.
The storage basket is on the small side if you are comparing the G-Lite with full sized strollers, but it is as expected for umbrella or lightweight strollers. It should be adequate to hold a diaper bag and perhaps some smaller items.
The brake is not a linking system on both sides of the stroller, but it should work properly considering the very light weight of the stroller. The oversized wheels and all-wheel suspension do give a smooth glide that may be a bit superior to other umbrella strollers on the market today.
There may not be a lot of features on this stroller, but it is still the type of stroller many families like to keep on hand. Most will find many uses for it when the bulkier strollers just are not worth the hassle.
Using the UPPAbaby G-Lite Stroller
Use the UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller whenever you need to pick up the baby and get out the door fast. If you don't have the time or desire to mess with a large, heavy stroller, you can grab this one and be on your way in just moments. Since it weighs less than 9 pounds any parent can easily put it in the back of a car or grab it from a closet without any struggle.
You can also use the G-Lite stroller for travel situations where there may be limited space in the back of your vehicle. If the seat gets dirty you can simply take the pad out and give it a wash. If you know how messy a little one can be, you know how important this is.
There are some things to keep in mind when comparing the G-Lite stroller with other umbrella or lightweight stroller reviews:
1. Some users find that the stroller brakes may lock in place when going over curbs or other raised heights. This may be something to watch as the brakes are placed differently than on other strollers.
2. The back piece of the stroller is raised up on this model, which prevents your foot from kicking it while walking behind the stroller.
